Digital Competence Framework 

Digital competence is the set of skills, knowledge and attitudes that enable the confident, creative and critical use of technologies and systems.

Based on this the European Commission has developed the DigComp Framework for citizens, with five key components of digital competence:

  1. Information and data literacy
  2. communication and collaboration
  3. digital content creation
  4. safety and
  5. problem solving

DigCompEdu

For teachers, an educational framework called DigCompEdu has been developed by the European Commission, describing what it means for educators to be digitally competent.

DigCompEdu provides a structure to support the development of educator-specific digital competences in Europe.

The DigCompEdu Framework for educators has been used as the basis for developing a self-reflection tool for educators, this is provisionally called “DigCompEdu CheckIn”.
